Happy First Birthday, Kaleb!
Kaleb is ONE!

One year ago today, the Lord delivered our son, a miracle, alive and screaming, into this broken world. After 10 seconds of feeling the weight of his precious body on my chest, an incredible medical team swooped in and saved his life. The days that followed felt like a lifetime as we lived moment to moment, holding our son's hand on the edge of eternity.

When he was two weeks old a surgeon whom I will remain grateful to for the rest of my life had the confidence to open up his heart and fix what was wrong. Kaleb took his time with everything and did it all his own way, but we were finally able to bring him home on December 20. The following months were a blur of joy, exhaustion, gratefulness, crisis, stress, and love.

At six months old Kaleb had a surgery to add a GJ feeding tube. During the surgery they took a peak into his lungs and found some answers on why he was oxygen-dependent. After a month, he finally came home to us again and the summer was busy bliss with our "new baby".

God has made our son unique. From his double thumbs to his button nose, he has been purposefully and specifically designed by God in His wisdom for His glory. And we love him. More than words can say. Every day with him is a gift. He is a joyful, fun-loving, content little boy. He's got a long, hard road ahead of him, but—
We are all so thankful to be walking it with him.
And we are so thankful to be walking it with YOU.
And most importantly, we are so thankful to be walking this road with our patient, sufficient Shepherd.
Our God is good.

"Kaleb's Lullaby"
Jesus holds your little body,
In His hands, In His heart
And He holds you oh so strongly,
In your pain as you are.
He is faithful, He is stronger
Than this sickness you endure;
You can rest within His power;
He is good and He is sure.
Jesus watches in the darkness,
Through the night He is here.
He is with you in the stillness;
When you're lonely, He is near.
All the mystery, all the shadows
Are as clear as day to Him
And He's for you in the battle,
Strong to save and strong to win.
Jesus knows you and He loves you
Chose your name, shaped your heart;
He has made you in His wisdom,
Wrote your days in wondrous art.
He's your Keeper, He's your Shepherd,
And He loves His little ones;
Little lamb, now rest in Jesus,
You are held within His heart.
