Todd’s sending church, Westwood Church, just wrapped up their annual VBS. Each year they highlight a missionary sent out by the church and this year they wanted to highlight our family!

Shortly after I (Todd) became a member of Westwood in 2011, I volunteered with VBS and was quickly encouraged by the impact the program had on the kids, especially the Missionary highlight they wove into the week. Since my beginnings in my missionary journey, I have always looked forward to the time when I might be able to serve Westwood’s VBS. It came! And it did not disappoint! This small way of serving Westwood, a church that’s been a constant means of grace in my life, has brought my family a lot of joy. As you can see in the clip above, our son, Zion, was particularly excited!

We made a few short videos sharing about our family, the work we have done (ministry in Dubai), and work we are currently doing with the Great Commission Council (GCC) and Trinity Cambridge Church in Boston, MA. Throughout the week they ask students to raise money to give to the missionaries. Towards the end of the week one of the pastors, Allen, said “Looks like they really emptied their piggy banks” they gave a total of $2,637.66!! We also received a message from friends of ours sharing the excitement of their 7 year old boy, William, who worked very hard for several months to raise money for the VBS missionaries (captured excitement below).

Joyful Generosity

What a wonderful model! They are not only teaching the kids the joy of the Great Commission Jesus gave to His Church but it is also encouraging hearts of joyful generosity for the glory of God.

The joyful generosity of the young kids from a small church in Southwestern Indiana brings a wave of encouragement to our faith and for the small part we get to play in the proclamation of the gospel to the ends of the earth.
