My Last Hurrah!

Past week Recap

This past week has been a full and enjoyable week. I got to host some guys visiting our church in Atlanta who are from Soma Church in Indianapolis, it was a pleasant gift from the Lord to have some fellow Hoosiers around and hear their heart for a more ethnically diverse church in Indianapolis. I had the privilege of teaching in our church's Sunday morning Equip class. The class series was an overview of the OT and I had the lofty task of the 12 minor prophets for a one hour time slot. Yeah, you read that correctly...all 12 books in one class! Having to paint a picture of the entire forest to set us up to see the beauty of the details in between the trees taught me more than I could have imagined.

This week and going forward...

This week I am on my last hurrah with Pioneers at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky mobilizing for missions speaking in classes, meeting with students, and facilitating a luncheon. A colleague of mine, who has his MDiv and 10+ years on the field, was supposed to join me and present during our luncheon on 5 things the classroom couldn't teach me. When I arrived to Louisville I received a message from my colleague saying, "I'm ill and can't make it.", two days before his presentation. I completely froze with my phone in my hands with numerous thoughts racing through my mind "is this a joke?", "What do you mean ill?", "Uh... you better suck it up and get on that plane."  I started to send some SOS texts out to my co-workers, but then the Holy Spirit quickened me and I began to realized my lack of compassion and lack of trust in the Lord. I went to Him to asked for His provision and wisdom. That prayer was answered!

..."I'm ill and can't make it.", two days before his presentation. I completely froze with my phone in my hands...

Shortly, following I texted my bosses boss and he simply said, "You could ask Dr. Klaassen to fill in." and so I asked Dr. Klaassen the following morning and he said "Sure, I could that." Ha! It was that simple for our heavenly Father. He wants us to come to Him as dependent children, the gracious Father that He is, wants to provide good gifts for His children. Pray for the luncheon that takes place Thursday, February 28th at 11pm EST.

Next week, I will move back to my home in Indiana as I prepare to fly away to Dubai in May. I am looking forward to seeing some you before I leave.

Grace and Peace,

Todd

Prayer & Praise:

1. For the Lord to raise up laborers from Southern Seminary to take the gospel to the ends of the earth

2. Praise Him for His faithfulness in provision

3. Pray for an increase in our faith that comes out of an affectionate love for the LORD, Himself.

4. Pray for the ministry in Dubai; a lot of spiritual warfare is taking place currently. I will share more in my next newsletter.

“Men will trust in God no further than they know Him; and they cannot be in the exercise of faith in Him one ace further than they have a sight of His fulness and faithfulness in exercise.”-Jonathan Edwards, The Religious Affections (Part 2. Section 11)"Walk by faith not by sight"-2 Corinthians 5:7
