Still Waiting
Kaleb remains intubated and under sedation (though they are gradually weaning him off both) and now he is facing other issues.
This morning at church we “just happened” to sit in front of an older couple who, we learned, have a son just 9 rooms down from Kaleb in the CICU. They are believers who moved here from Florida at the beginning of March because their 10 month old, James, is facing significant issues with his heart. Todd and I were able to fellowship with them, pray for them, as well as invite them over for dinner soon, since they have very little community and time for fellowship these days. It was a gift and a sweet reminder of the providence of God in these days.
God is answering your prayers and providing increasing depth to our relationships with unbelievers, as well as opportunities to share about Jesus. It has been an encouraging few days in that regard!
However, true to Kaleb’s previous record, Kaleb is taking his time recovering from his procedure last Wednesday. They were planning on extubating today, but then he developed a fever overnight. Then this morning his heart regressed (dropping the P waves for a bit, a.k.a. AJR) but that could’ve just been a result of losing electrolytes. However, because of those things, they’re going to delay extubation until he’s more stable.
Tonight, as I sang “Jesus Loves Me” to River before bed, the refrain resonated with refreshment to my heart.
YES, Jesus love me.
Yes, JESUS loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves ME!
The Bible tells me so.
It reminds me of John 11, when Jesus hears that His dear friend Lazarus is deathly ill, it says, “Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.” (John 11:5-6) Sometimes, He shows us His love by delaying–so that we may experience and witness more of His glory than we would have through an immediate answer. These days are brim-full with purpose. And I want to be leaning in, on the edge of my seat, to seize the opportunities and witness His glory in the precious things He has prepared.
Please Pray:
For Kaleb’s health to improve and stabilize so he can move forward with recovery.
For encouragement for our new friends, Brian and Angie, and healing for their son James.
For continued boldness to speak of Jesus.
For wisdom to navigate this week and provision for childcare so I can be with Kaleb, especially when they extubate him. And for wisdom in how to care well for our baby boy while he is in the hospital.
