T-Minus 5 DAYS

Our last Appointments Before Kaleb’s Arrival

We're nearing the finish line/starting line!

Boston Children’s Rooftop Garden

Induction date has been moved to October 2, pending an available spot. Brittany will call the day of to make sure there's a bed for her, and then she'll go sometime in the afternoon to begin induction. Most likely, if all goes well, she'll labor and give birth naturally sometime the next morning (Wednesday, October 3).

Today we had a VERY encouraging last round of doctor appointments—an ultrasound to check Kaleb's vitals (everything still looks stable!), a tour of the Cardiac ICU, and a final meeting with Dr. Wilkins before the big day.

Walking through the halls of the CICU with our very kind and very helpful guide, Maggie, we were overwhelmed with gratefulness to God to bring us to this place for this time. We came away assured that should Kaleb live past birth he will be kept in a wonderful place. The cozy individual patient rooms with big windows, the rooftop garden, the center for families (full of resources for kids and parents), and the assurance that we could come (with the kids!) and stay anytime was a massive blessing. It was sobering seeing all the sweet CICU babies being taken care of there, imagining our Kaleb in one of the bassinets. But of all the places we could be spending the foreseeable future, this sure feels like one of the best.

Our consult with Dr. Wilkins (who we're learning more and more is one of the best at the hospital) was VERY encouraging. Brittany had all of her questions/concerns answered and is now feeling excited to "get to it".

He Hears and Answers The Prayers of His Children

As we think back over the last month, one thing stands out: the privilege and power of prayer. We are convinced–by the word of God and experience–of the power of prayer, watching miracle after miracle unfold in our hearts and lives while we have been receiving continuous texts and calls from friends near and far assuring us of their prayers. And with that experience has come a deep humbling–being on the receiving end of so much care from the people of God is simply humbling and full of joy. It has been a vivid and memorable (hopefully indelible) experience of the goodness and care of Jesus through His Spirit’s prompting His people to pray. THANK YOU for taking time to pray for us! We love you all. Our new home address:

Next Appointment:

  • Tuesday, October 2nd, INDUCTION DAY

Pray:

  • For increasing grace to supersede the increasing temptation towards anxiety as we get closer to Kaleb's birth. For peace and joy to fill our hearts and home.

  • That God would make all the details surrounding the birth (childcare during labor and delivery, logistics, etc) fall into place quickly.

  • That Brittany would be able to come in at her scheduled time for her induction (bed availability depends on other people going into labor)

  • That God would fill Zion and River with peace through so much change.

  • For continued boldness to testify of the grace and glory of our Savior.

  • For God to sustain Kaleb's heart after birth. For God to sustain our hearts if he doesn't.

  • For God to work wonders this coming as only He knows how to do.
