Update #9: Weekend Recap
BIG WEEKEND
Kaleb’s blood pressure and heart rate are now doing way better (63/34) BPM 115. The doctors have him on very low blood pressure support. They took him off one blood pressure (norepinephrine), now only on one (epinephrine/adrenaline) and it’s on the minimum dose.
They also decided to try, once again, weaning him off the muscle relaxer (which essentially has kept him paralyzed). They tried to do this several times this past week but he didn’t respond well, however this time he has been responding well for the past 48 hours. Even though he is still sedated, he can now open his eyes and wiggle around a bit. Watch a video on Brittany’s instagram of Kaleb opening his eyes to the sound of her voice, CLICK HERE.
Holding Kaleb
While we were visiting Kaleb on Saturday, the nurse surprised us when she walked into the room with news that we would be able to hold him for the first time! As you can imagine this was a sweet and precious gift.

His Stomach
They brought in the general surgeons to start checking his stomach and bowels for blockages or other signs of potential complications, since he still hasn’t passed his meconium yet. They have been giving him electrolytes and lipids (fat) straight into his blood stream to sustain him.
Prayer and Praise
Our hearts are full from these sweet and precious gifts God has provided, moments we will remember and cherish for the rest of our lives.
Brittany’s friends (Bekah Heid and Bec Northrup) from Louisville are flying in for a few days this week to serve and care for our family.
Pray for Kaleb’s stomach to have more gases inside and to have a bowel movement. This will also allow them to start feeding him breastmilk again.
Kaleb is third in line for a heart catheter procedure today (Monday) to do diagnostics to more accurately understand what’s going on inside his heart.
