Tomorrow!

Kaleb's mystery fever has finally gone away! The tentative plan is to discharge tomorrow (Wednesday).

It’s been over a month now since Kaleb was admitted for his GJ tube surgery. Soon after his procedure one of the CICU nurses who knows him well mentioned “kaleb is always kaleb”. In other words, he has a history of taking much longer than normally expected and doing things his own way. This time around that looked like an extended time intubated, which meant extended recovery, then a UTI infection, followed by this mystery fever which they concluded must have been induced by one or two of his new medicines. They took him off of those and his fever has been decreasing since then.

Saturday he had a 24 hour stint with no fever, and then he spiked again Sunday morning, but since then he has been fever free. I talked with his doctor this afternoon and she said “We’re all in agreement—we want to get Kaleb out of here as soon as possible before he pulls something else on us.” 😂 So, they plan to send him home tomorrow!! We are THRILLED.

Please Pray:

  • For nothing else to come up that would delay his discharge any more.

  • For the tone of our home to be one of peace, patience, and joy as we welcome Kaleb back and figure out his new regimen. Thankfully, he’s on the fewest amount of medications so far! And his schedule seems very feasible, aside from the fact that he’s been waking up at 4am every morning in the hospital. 😅😅😅

  • For perseverance in continuing to train Zion and River in the discipline and instruction of the Lord during this crazy season.

  • For Todd and I to be humble, loving, and patient with each other.

Your prayers have meant the world to us and we truly feel so blessed in this season in so many ways. Thank you.
